In early September 2019, a commercial for one of the famous drink brands in Indonesia Pocari Sweat suddenly became viral on social media. The commercial, titled TVC Pocari Sweat – Bintang SMA and released on YouTube, has reminded many people of the art style used in the works of Makoto Shinkai (Weathering with You, your name, The Garden of Words, 5 Centimeters per Second).
A few weeks after the commercial had been making rounds, Pocari Sweat finally officially announced the creator behind the TVC Pocari Sweat – Bintang SMA ad. It was Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, who is known as an illustrator and background artist in some Makoto Shinkai and CoMix Wave‘s works. He has also been involved in other projects, such as being background artist on Girls’ Last Tour and illustrator on In this Corner of the World.
Moreover, Shinomiya also planned to visit Jakarta next month. He will attend the Pocari Sweat Festival event that will be held on November 16, 2019, at Basket Hall A, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.
Pocari Sweat Festival is an event held by Pocari Sweat. The festival invites people to care more about the issue of waste that has become a severe problem. Pocari Sweat Festival also invited some Indonesian top artists such as RAN, Diskoria Selekta, Tasya Farasya, Rendy Pandugo, Ernest Prakasa, Gading Martin, Zee Shahab, and many more as guest stars. Moreover, there will be a dance competition, E-Sport, and interesting workshops on waste issues.
Pocari Sweat Festival will also hold Pocari Sweat Bintang SMA online competition Grand Final. The top ten participants will be gathered in Grand Final and one of them will be crowned as #BintangSMA. This event will also present some behind the scene materials from TVC Pocari Sweat – Bintang SMA ads.
